I finally got into my new classroom today, and I am so excited to be starting in a new school for this upcoming year! I cannot wait to share ideas and pictures when the year get started! But for now, I have another common core resource to share with you.
I have made 40 pages of daily/weekly review or math warmups for the 5th grade Common Core math skills. I sequenced the skills based on difficulty or readiness skills. To help, I made a checklist of the skills and the pages numbers they are reviewed on. This way, I could ensure that all the skills were covered an equal amount and spiraled effectively.
I plan to start using these pages 40 days before state testing. That way I will have taught the majority of the standards on review pages prior to using them. This way the review will truly be a review and not a scrambling to try and teach new skills. The first ten or so pages include easier versions of the skill that way I can ease the students into the review and build their confidence. Also, this gives me time to teach all the standards before getting into more difficult questions.
The first 30 pages contain five boxes of skills. Each box represents a different domain in the 5th grade common core standards. The last 10 pages contain only two boxes and focus solely on the Base Ten and Fraction standards. Since the majority of the standards fall in those two domains, I needed some reviews that specifically catered to those two domains. I plan to rotate the 10 pages in with the other 30 pages to have a nice review of all the skills on a regular basis.
Take a look at some of the pages in these pictures:
