How to Review After a Long Break from School

My break is over, and I officially return to school Monday…sadsville! Other than having to set your alarm, and losing the extra time with family and friends, the other part about going back to work that I dread is the fact that I know some of my kids will have forgotten what we learned or just need a quick review. Last year, I decided to not fight this inevitable fact, but instead to embrace it with a fun review printable booklet to help us review.

The part I love about this resource is that I included a page for EVERY standard, so if my pacing guide changes from year to year, I can still use it. All I have to do is print the pages that I have taught and voila, a meaningful review that the kids actually think is fun to do! This is only some of the pages that we will use. I have taught a lot this year!

My students last year loved completing these! I know my current group will enjoy them as well. And of course, this teacher will be happy with some necessary and needed review! I plan to use these for morning work the first two weeks that we are back from break. Depending on the number of questions per page, I will require 1-2 pages due each day. We will review the assigned pages the following day (so the students can take the booklet home if they need to finish up the assigned pages). When we review the specific standards as a class, I can also check their retention and see if the review has helped or if I need to do more extensive reteaching.
